Normalize audio loudness to LUFS
Normalize loudness brings a whole track to one standard level, so it is not quieter than everything around it in a playlist, and not louder than a broadcaster allows.
What it does
- Targets of -14 LUFS for streaming, -16 LUFS for podcasts and -23 LUFS for broadcast.
- A true peak ceiling, so the loudest moments do not clip.
- Measures the loudness of the whole track, not only its peaks.
What you can set
- Target: streaming, podcast or broadcast.
- Peak ceiling: from -3 to -0.1 dBTP.
Works with
Audio (WAV, MP3, FLAC, M4A, AAC, OGG, WMA, OPUS and AIFF).
How it works
- 01Open the file in EYU SUITS: drop it anywhere in the window, or press Choose a file.
- 02Pick Normalize loudness from the tools listed beside it, and change the settings if you want to. The defaults are a sensible start.
- 03Press Run. The result is saved to your EYU SUITS folder, and the original is left as it was.
Questions
Which target should I use?
-14 LUFS for music and video on streaming platforms, -16 LUFS for podcasts, and -23 LUFS for broadcast television.
Is this the same as turning it up?
Not quite. It measures how loud the track sounds over its whole length and sets that to the target, while the ceiling keeps the peaks from clipping.
